Craziest Ways People Have Failed Their Driving Test

If you have a driving test coming up, it’s likely that you’re a bundle or nerves at the moment and are stressing yourself out as you try to prepare for the big day. Fortunately, most people will be more than prepared by the time they head to the test centre, but spare a thought for the unfortunate souls in these stories who managed to fail their test in the craziest ways possible.

Driving on the Wrong Side of the Road

If you have been taking lessons for long enough, you should understand which side of the road the vehicle needs to be on at all times. If not, you should take more driving lessons before even considering your test. However, driving on the wrong side of the road during a test is not unheard of. One person who managed this feat placed the blame on the fact that they had recently been to France and had become so immersed in the culture that they had forgotten which side of the road to drive on. You’d have though to flow of traffic on the road back in the UK might have been a clue.

Distracted by the Sexy

Paying attention to your surroundings is good. Paying so much attention to one thing that you utterly forget to pay attention to anything else is bad. One story goes that a young woman had her eye caught by an attractive cyclist while she was taking her test, going so far as to steer directly towards him due to her distraction. Her instructor had to enforce an emergency stop and she apparently blamed the incident on poor eyesight.

Too Much Energy

While we all know that you should never get behind the wheel after drinking alcohol, there’s something to be said for enforcing a similar rule for energy drinks. At least, there should be something in place if the story about the young man who drove himself to distraction with energy drinks is true. He had been making use of the beverages to keep him lively during his revision sessions, but found that he had consumed too many before his test, leaving him a twitching mess as he got behind the wheel. Two majors and a host of minors later and the test was failed.

Queuing For Queuing’s Sake

Getting stuck in a traffic jam is always a tiresome and occasionally frustrating experience. Getting stuck in a jam that is entirely of your own making is probably more so. One poor test taker found himself behind a row of cars, waiting for the traffic to crawl forward. Absolutely nothing happened for seven minutes, which is quite the period of time without even having the opportunity to inch forward. Finally, the driving instructor put the young man out of his misery, telling him that it is perfectly fine to drive around parked cars. Another test was failed.
