Many of us enjoy a nice drink every now and again, but if you’re driving it is always smart to err on the side of caution and avoid alcohol at all. If you do choose to drink, you also need to be aware of the current laws surrounding drink driving and ensure that you never exceed the limit before getting behind the wheel.

If you choose not to drink alcohol at all, then you need to get some good non-alcoholic drinks so that you can enjoy whatever you are doing alongside your friends. Here we take a look at a few of the best that are ideal for designated drivers.

Coke

It’s the standard choice for many drivers and it has maintained its popularity for many years simply because it tastes so good. The vast majority of pubs will serve coke in one form or another, making it an easy choice, plus it will keep you perked up during the event.

Just make sure to not drink too much, as too much of a good thing can be bad for your teeth. After all, it is very high in sugar.

Non-Alcoholic Kopparberg

Kopparberg has fast built a reputation as one of the best ciders in the world because it has a truly wonderful taste. However, you are going to have to miss out if you choose not to drink for the night.

The company has clearly recognised this and have released a non-alcoholic version of the drink that is ideal for those who want to get their Kopparberg fix without leaving themselves in a compromised position when it comes to their driving.

Fruit Juice

As great as it is to enjoy a nice pint in the sun, there are few things that are more refreshing than a nice fruit juice. A sharp tangy drink of orange juice is just what you need to keep yourself feeling alert and ready for the drive, plus it tastes great too.

Most establishments will offer fruit drinks alongside their alcoholic drinks, with the likes of J20 being particularly popular nowadays. Either way, you really can’t go wrong, plus you’ll usually be able to find a good choice of flavours.

Lemonade

The other standard non-alcoholic beverage, alongside coke, and one that is just as popular amongst drinkers. If you find coke to be a little too sugary and sweet for you, then lemonade may be the perfect tonic.

Best of all, if you do choose to have a drink, you can mix lemonade with lager to create a shandy that is lower in volume. Of course, we will always stress that you still need to ensure that you stay below the limit at all times if you’re going to drive.

Root Beer

It’s a very popular drink in the states and root beer is quickly gaining something of a following in the UK. A lot of pubs stock it, but you may find that you need to grab some for yourself if you are going to be drinking it at a house party or other social event.
